WELCOME TO NEW ORLEANS.

Live art work but amazing talents.

Zoe and I ventured off this spring break to discover the culture of New Orleans and fully submerge ourselves into all the craze of the Buku Art and Music Project right inside the world of Mardi Gras. Of course no cameras were allowed so enjoy the journey of my iPhone 5.
Nas was all of the hype and definitely brought me back to my elementary school days, bouncing around in my nightgown trying to rap along to all of his intellectual lyrics. My favorite at that time was
"I know I can... be what I wanna be... if I work hard at it... I'll be where I wanna be."
Can't have a party without Pusha T!
My favorite baby there... CHANCE THE RAPPER!!!!!
Indian Chief and Unicorn Cheetah
Why would my phone die before Sleigh Bells even got the chance to actually sing? WHYYYY!!
And what is a festival without the infamous selfies? #mileycyrustongue??? haaa!
And of course those photos you just never knew were taken (or maybe you did...?) but the weather was extremely beautiful and perfect for escaping groggy Atlanta. I really did not want to leave. New Orleans, even after the storm is still such a culturally rich and naturally beautiful city.
I thought about dying my hair lavender or pinkish purple before the Counterpoint festival... thought maybe I'd test the color first. Of course, the hotter I got, the more I ran my fingers through my hair and the quicker all o the chalk quickly faded :/
The charging station was literally my fave place to hangout when we needed some down time. I mean, have you ever been to a charging station dosed in cool ass graffiti and infrared lighting?
But who can go to New Orleans and NOT rave about all of the amazing cajun seafood dishes? I mean seriously people!! And I've never been to a restaurant where they served the PERFECT sized portions. I literally ate every bite, felt nice and satisfied with no doggie bag. (or maybe the food was just that delish!)
I would definitely recommend checking out the Hippie Gypsy for cool festival wear. It's where I got that amazing crochet top I wore to the Buku Project. They have really awesome maxi skirts, fanny packs, shades, gypsy skirts, inscents... literally everything for all the cool people.
We stayed in the Lower Garden district at John and Kara's cute little studio home. We found her on airbnb and I've never met such a hospitable person. She left us organic eggs, organic raspberry preserves, English muffins, green tea, sugar in the raw, orange juice, milk and half and half (for coffee... although I've never been into coffee) and of course all the utensils you would need to prepare a nice breakfast. I would definitely stay there again!! I would definitely recommend looking into staying there if you ever visit New Orleans!
